From the East – January 2013

Brethren,

First, I would like to humbly thank each and every one of you for having the confidence in me to lead the Lodge. This is by far the highest privilege that I could ever hope to receive.  It will surely be an honor to serve you as Worshipful Master of Pearl of the West in 2013 and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity. We have a great team of Brothers in the line this year that will all prove to obsequiously carry out the will of The Craft, and likewise,it will be my ambition to discharge the duties of my office with expedience and zeal. Though I have some very big shoes to fill, I will do my best to assist in accomplishing all that we set out to achieve and more. Looking back, I cherish the fact that there are so many Past Masters and other Brothers who have and continue to support me, instilling vision for the betterment of our Lodge as well as our Great Fraternity.

Speaking on that vision, I have a plethora of ideas that I believe will make our Lodge an enjoyable part of our lives for Brother Masons and Masonic Families for many years to come. Some of these concepts are but a carry-over from previous Masters and Brothers. Still, others I hope you will find to be fresh and intuitive. The primary focus for me in 2013 will be education and creating depth of knowledge. In January, after the first Officers’ Meeting, I hope to unfold a new structure for education that will I hope to equally serve new candidates and current Brothers alike and combine depth into our organization. I believe that this combination will ultimately create a positive atmosphere for fellowship and growth.

The continuity of our Lodge rests upon expanding our membership. Initiating candidates into the Lodge depends on our current Brothers that will serve as tomorrow’s leaders for the new “Rough Ashlars.” We have so many resources to tap into and a great deal of wisdom and experience already at our disposal. It is with the highest respect and Fraternal regard that I ask to join me in helping to transform Pearl of the West into the image and esteem of our Great Fraternity.

My Mission Statement: “I want to help to make Pearl of the West a fun and exciting place to enjoy Fellowship among Brethren and their families, to learn about The Craft’s historical timelines and the morals and value systems we promise to exude and uphold, and ensure that our Lodge consistently contributes to the relief of the surrounding communities.”

Here’s to a great 2013 year!

Fraternally Yours,

Scott Mitchell, Worshipful Master
